The 1992-3 Brother Martin soccer team swept through district play with a 12-0 record to capture the school's first soccer district championship.
Junior Bret Turner led the team in scoring with 32 goals, while junior Bert Turner topped the assist list with 15. Senior Tuyen Tran and junior Tommy Hines led the stingy D.
The team defeated Pontchatoula in the first round of the state playoffs but lost to St. Paul's in the second round to finish with an overall 19-5-1 record.
Head coach Grady Kittrell was assisted by Alan DeRitter, Tom Necela, Mike Reisbig, Mike Robuck, and Sean Esker.

Holy Cross won the 1945 State AA football championship over Istrouma 33-32. The defeat so infuriated Istrouma coach "Little Fuzzy" Brown that he hatched a plan to scrap the LHSAA's traditional playoff setup. Instead, schools would form their own conferences as was done in Mississippi. Public school conference members would be prohibited from competing in a state championship game against a private school. Members could compete against private schools in regular season competition.
Underlying the movement was the belief enunciated by Bob House, the sports editor of the Lake Charles American: "The New Orleans bunch don't give a hoot about the State Association's rules and they have been getting away with just about everything. ... For instance, Holy Cross advertises itself as a college, not a high school, and gets athletes from all over the nation ..." House was blissfully ignorant of the fact that HC's teams were composed entirely of New Orleans boys.
When the proposal, formally submitted by the principal of Bolton High of Alexandria, reached the floor at the 1946 LHSAA annual meeting, Brother Peter, S.C., principal of Catholic High in Baton Rouge, directed his criticism at the real author of the plan, Fuzzy Brown. "It's public knowledge where this move originated. ... If I had a football team, and it was defeated because of the lack of an adequate pass defense, I would concentrate on coaching pass defense and not say, 'Let us withdraw.' And seek to throw out every Catholic school in the state."
The proposal failed, 51-16. Every New Orleans public school principal voted against it. However, this would not be the last attempt to separate the LHSAA into public and private school subdivisions.

Bobby Buisson (SA '63) played three varsity seasons for Auburn from 1964-7. (Freshmen were not eligible until the 70s.) He played the emerging position of PG and captained the team his senior season. His coach for all four years was Bill Lynn.
- 1964-5: Auburn was 16-9 (11-5 SEC). The Tigers defeated LSU at home 101-60 and Tulane 87-73. The big victory was 88-69 over Kentucky at home on February 20.
- 1965-6: 16-10 (8-8 SEC). Auburn played in the Sugar Bowl Tournament in Bobby's hometown, losing to Dayton and Houston. They defeated LSU in BR 74-66 and Tulane (in its last year in the SEC) 92-58 in NO. Bobby scored 29 points against archrival Alabama. For the season, he made 105 of 185 FG for 56.6% to lead the SEC and was 97-126 for a .785 FT%.
- 1966-7: 17-8 (12-6 SEC). Defeated LSU at home 70-59 and in Baton Rouge 80-63. After losing in Lexington by only two, the War Eagles defeated Kentucky at home 60-49. Buisson was voted to the Coaches All-SEC first team. He averaged 4.2 assists per game.
Bobby ended his career third in FT% (.786) at Auburn although he has since fallen to tenth. He is still 8th in FT% for a season (.840 for 1966-7).
